Over thirty years ago, Pedro Quintanilla and his best friend, Alfredo Miguel, embarked on a journey to create a tequila that would share the heritage, culture, and beauty of Mexico with the world.
Today, we keep that focus.
Azulejos Tequila began with a decision by our founders, Pedro and Alfredo, to create an ultra-premium tequila made in the centuries-old traditional method.
By harvesting only the best Blue Weber agaves from the fields of Jalisco, Mexico and working closely with a master distiller, they crafted a unique artisan tequila that would bring out the essence of the agave and delight the palate – without additives or shortcuts.
Inspired by the individually hand-painted azulejos tiles decorating the elegant homes and haciendas across Mexico, Pedro and Alfredo went on a search for local Mexican artisans to design a bottle that would be as beautiful on the outside as the tequila inside.
Today, our talented artisans handcraft and individually paint each bottle to create a piece of art — both inside and out.
Keeping our bottle creation in the hands of our community is about more than just creating a unique container.
By building skilled jobs in Mexico and highlighting the intrinsic talent of our artisans, we help to keep money in the local community for generations to come.
We are dedicated to minimizing our environmental footprint throughout every stage of our tequila production.
Our glass bottles are made from 100% recycled glass to reduce landfill waste, with our ceramic bottles being crafted from clay, a naturally abundant material sourced directly from the earth.
We create our tequila using only natural ingredients, devoid of any added substances (additives), chemicals, or artificial elements and certified by the CRT (Consejo Regulador del Tequila) in Guadalajara Jalisco, the government agency in charge of all certification and oversight for the industry.
Central to our process is the pristine spring water we utilize. Sourced exclusively from the volcanic soil-filtered rainwaters of the tequila volcano valley, our spring water imparts a distinct crispness and purity to our tequila.
Our commitment continues into our waste management. The biomass derived from pressed agave fibers, known as bagasse, is recycled into new life. This includes becoming a renewable source of energy and being used to create textiles, agave paper, and other products.
Our distillery proudly upholds the following certifications:
